Province of Ontario, Great Lakes Guardian Community Fund

May 15, 2016 - Each year, the Great Lakes Guardian Community Fund (GLGCF) provides financial support for grassroots efforts to improve and protect the health of our Great Lakes watershed. MPPMalhi announced that this year, there are two projects in the riding of Brampton-Springdale that willbe receiving funding. Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation

January 19, 2016 - The Living City Foundation is pleased to announce a commitment of $72,465 from The Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation. Funds will be used to assist the Conservation Authorities Moraine Coalition to create an action plan to identify, guide, coordinate, and source funding for a suite of actions to improve or restore the ecological health of Greenbelt lands and waters.Why is this exciting? We know that the Greenbelt is relatively healthy, but more could be done to restore and enhance ecological assets, from forest cover, to water quality, to aquatic ecosystems. CAMC is bringing together 13 conservation authorities and a coalition of conservation and environmental groups to identify how best to improve the Greenbelt?s ecological health over the next 10 years and beyond. The potential benefits are huge in terms of biodiversity and climate change goals, economic benefits, and eco-health.

The Valleywood Stewardship Project is kindly supported by The Ontario Trillium Foundation and Region of Peel (2014-2017). This project has engaged local residents, students and partners to help protect, restore and enhance the natural environment of SouthFields and Valleywood communities, Town of Caledon. March 3, 2015 - The Living City Foundation, the charitable support arm of Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA), is thrilled to be receiving a commitment of $185,000 over two years from the Weston Family Parks Challenge to support the San Romanoway Outdoor Revitalization Project as part of The Black Creek Sustainable Neighbourhood Retrofit Action Program (SNAP). This innovative initiative will transform lawns surrounding three apartment towers into vibrant community green space and serve as a model for similar tower communities. continued...
